Human computer interaction (HCI)
Introduction
Humans interact with computers in any way the interface between humans and computers is crucial to facilitate this interaction. Desktop applications, internet browsers, handheld computers, ERP, and computer kiosks make use of the prevalent graphical user interfaces (GUI) of today.
Voice user interfaces (VUI) are used for speech recognition and synthesizing systems, and the emerging multi-modaand Graphical user interfaces (GUI) allow humans to engage with embodied character agents in a way that cannot be achieved with other interface paradigms. The growth in the human-computer interaction field has been in the quality of interaction, and indifferent branching in its history. Instead of designing regular interfaces, the different research branches have had a different focus on the concepts of multimodality rather than unimodality, intelligent adaptive interfaces rather than command/action based ones, and finally active rather than passive interfaces.
An important facet of HCI is user satisfaction (or simply End-User Computing Satisfaction). "Because human-computer interaction studies a human and a machine in communication, it draws from supporting knowledge on both the machine and the human side. On the machine side, techniques in computer graphics, operating systems, programming languages, and development environments are relevant.

Management
Achieving Your Goals
Goals

If you're used to procrastinating, you probably struggle with organizing your day and you constantly postpone your deadlines and goals. This not only consumes all of your time but may also keep you from achieving your dreams.
According to researcher Piers Steel, 95% of people procrastinate at least to some degree. While knowing you're not alone can be comforting, it's also sad to discover how much procrastination can hold you back.
Start by following these simple strategies to overcome your procrastination habits:
Practice self-forgiveness: For starters, don’t beat yourself up too hard. Self-forgiveness can help you feel better about yourself. In fact, it lowers the likelihood of future procrastination.
Reward yourself: If you manage to complete your tasks on time, treat yourself to a nice meal at a restaurant or something similar.
Turn off your phone: This one may sound redundant, yet if you delve deeper and look at the University of Chicago's study on cellphones, which shows that even the mere presence of a wireless device badly impacts our cognitive capacity, you might want to reconsider.

The Influenza (Flu) Virus
The Influenza (Flu) Virus

Next to the common cold, influenza or "the flu" is perhaps the most familiar respiratory infection in the world. In the United States alone, approximately 25 to 50 million people contract influenza each year. The symptoms of the flu are similar to those of the common cold but tend to be more severe.

A number of complications, such as the onset of bronchitis and pneumonia, can also occur in association with influenza and are especially common among the elderly, young children, and anyone with a suppressed immune system.

Measuring Global Ocean Heat Content to Estimate the Earth Energy Imbalance
Estimating and analyzing the Earth Energy Imbalance (EEI) is essential for understanding the evolution of the Earth’s climate. This is possible only through a careful computation and monitoring of the climate-energy budget. The climate system exchanges energy with outer space at the top of the atmosphere (TOA) (through radiation) and with solid Earth at the Earth’s crust surface (essentially through geothermal flux). If the climate system were free from external perturbations and internal variability during millennia, then the climate-energy budget would be in a steady state in which the net TOA radiation budget compensates the geothermal flux of +0.08 Wm–2 (Davies and Davies, 2010).
But the climate system is not free from external perturbations and from internal variability. Although the geothermal flux does not generate any perturbations at interannual to millennial time scales (because it varies only at geological time scales), other external forcings from natural origin (such as the solar radiation, the volcanic activity) or anthropogenic origin (such as Greenhouse Gas emissions –GHG-) perturb the system.

Families are invaluable resources for teachers.
Families are invaluable resources for teachers.

Websites: A homework website that provides assignments for the week is very helpful toparents and guardians of students with ADHD. Class news regarding projects and theweek’s instructional topics can also be posted.
Homework Hotline: A homework hotline that gives the assignments for the night andalso provides helpful suggestions for completing them can help families support theirchildren’s work completion.

We should emphasis a point here: ADHD is not caused by bad parenting
Causes for mental disorders are very difficult to pinpoint, but the general consensus is that they are products of the interaction of genetics with the environment.
Certain people who have genes that influence how the brain processes dopamine may be at increased risk for ADHD, but having the genes doesn’t necessarily mean a person will show signs of the condition.
There are a number of things that parents can do or not do that alter a child’s development—and their chances of having ADHD.

Text from William & Mary and Texas A&M
The goal of behavior management strategies is to help students learn to manage their ownbehavior. The following strategies are most effective when used in conjunction with evidence based instructional strategies.
Prevention StrategiesHere are some preventive measures that support students in demonstrating positivebehavior.
Nonverbal Supports: Together with the student, develop inconspicuous, nonverbal messages such as eye contact, hand gestures, or other signals that teach
