Status and trends in forest area
Forest ecosystems are a critical component of the world’s biodiversity as many forests are more biodiverse than other ecosystems.
Forests cover 31 percent of the global land area. Approximately half the forest area is relatively intact, and more than one-third is primary forest (i.e. naturally regenerated forests of native species, where there are no visible indications of human activities and the ecological processes are not significantly disturbed).
The total forest area is 4.06 billion hectares, or approximately 5 000m2 (or 50 x 100m) per person, but forests are not equally distributed around the globe.
More than half of the world’s forests are found in only five countries (the Russian Federation, Brazil, Canada, the United States of America and China) and two-thirds (66 percent) of forests are found in ten countries.

Connecting Knowledge to Action through Global Education Competency
Global Education
Global education helps students develop their capacity to be informed, open-minded, and responsible people who are responsive to diverse perspectives. Global education prepares us to address the world’s most pressing issues collaboratively, equitably, and sustainably. Global education helps students understand that pressing issues must be faced in an interdisciplinary way, given the complexity of environments and competing needs and interests.
Through global education, students will prepare to thrive and lead change in an interconnected world. Students will engage in dimensions of cultural diversity to reach common understandings and goals. Through a stronger awareness of global issues, students will be able to address today’s greatest challenges and make a difference in the world, both collaboratively and equitably.

Dengue and severe dengue
Key facts
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection.
The virus responsible for causing dengue, is called dengue virus (DENV). There are four DENV serotypes, meaning that it is possible to be infected four times.
Severe dengue is a leading cause of serious illness and death in some Asian and Latin American countries. It requires management by medical professionals.
While many DENV infections produce only mild illness, DENV can cause an acute flu-like illness. Occasionally this develops into a potentially lethal complication, called severe dengue.
There is no specific treatment for dengue/severe dengue. Early detection of disease progression associated with severe dengue, and access to proper medical care lowers fatality rates of severe dengue to below 1%.
Dengue is found in tropical and sub-tropical climates worldwide, mostly in urban and semi-urban areas.

Storage of Certificates of Students
Block chain technology allows duplication of data. Thus it can help to store digital copies of the student certificates in the distributed and collaborated environment. Each university can act as node or Validator where any person in authority can validate student documents by requesting for verified information from the students.
Such collaborative approach can help solve many issues like loss of original degree certificates or mark sheets, illegal duplication or modification of documents, authentication of student education records etc. This will also help universities to cut down the costs involved in making infrastructure available for storage of students’ important educational documents.

The relationship between science and technology
Science, technology and innovation each represent a successively larger category of activities which are highly interdependent but distinct. Science contributes to technology in at least six ways: (1) new knowledge which serves as a direct source of ideas for new technological possibilities; (2) source of tools and techniques for more efficient engineering design and a knowledge base for evaluation of feasibility of designs; (3) research instrumentation, laboratory techniques and analytical methods used in research that eventually find their way into design or industrial practices, often through intermediate disciplines; (4) practice of research as a source for development and assimilation of new human skills and capabilities eventually useful for technology; (5) creation of a knowledge base that becomes increasingly important in the assessment of technology in terms of its wider social and environmental impacts; (6) knowledge base that enables more efficient strategies of applied research, development, and refinement of new technologies.

You're Not Welcome Here: How Social Distancing Can Destroy The Global Economy
It's what people are being asked to tell each other. Less than 10 days ago, London banned people who live in different households from meeting each other indoors, to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
"Nobody wants to see more restrictions, but this is deemed to be necessary in order to protect Londoners' lives," London Mayor Sadiq Khan told the London Assembly.
Taking away the welcome mat is key to cutting off the path of the coronavirus. From the beginning of the pandemic, cities, states, and countries have banned each other. And now, eight months into lockdowns that have led to immense stress and fatigue among people, some places around the world are introducing even more draconian measures.24
The path toward recovery continues to be inherently antisocial and runs counter to how humans interact, live lives, and conduct their business. This unwelcome policy — which has already harmed families, societies, and economies — has the potential to lead to a tectonic shift in how the world functions in the foreseeable future.

Business Intelligence and Data Science
Business Intelligence and Data Science are two of the most recurring terms in the digital era. While both of them involve the use of data, they are totally different from one another. Data Science is the bigger pool containing greater information, BI can be thought of as a part of the bigger picture.
What is Business Intelligence?
Business Intelligence is a process of collecting, integrating, analyzing, and presenting the data. With Business Intelligence, executives and managers can have a better understanding of decision-making. This process is carried out through software services and tools.
Using Business Intelligence, organizations are able to several strategic and operational business decisions. Furthermore, BI tools are used for the analysis and creation of reports. They are also used for producing graphs, dashboards, summaries, and charts to help the business executives to make better decisions.
